Creating more engaging shopping experiences in the IoT-Era

1.2 Trillion US-Dollars – that’s how critically the impact of the Internet of Things (IoT) will be on the retail market alone in the next few years according to a report by McKinsey. With solutions like “Automated Checkout”, “Real-Time In Store Promotions” and “Customer Experience Optimization” , retail is  undergoing a change as big as the step from mom-and-pop stores to supermarkets. Advantech supports retailers to face this challenge by providing the technology needed to create engaging shopping experiences in the IoT-Era. After heading the transformation in Asia Advantech now answers the call for intelligent retail solutions in the European market. At this year’s EuroCIS from 23rd to 25th February the company has presented itself, its solutions and its experiences from Asia.

The shopping mall of the future has interactive self-service terminals which will give the consumer information, directions and show favored products. Multimedia displays will recognize their audience and show advertisements which will most likely effect the consumers – depending on age and gender. And reportings from the intelligent video analytics can immediately show how effective these ads have been. While retailers in Germany are only starting to grasp the impact of the digital revolution for their business, in other parts of the world digital iRetail solutions are already common. Especially in modern and dynamic cities of Asia, these futuristic visions are already reality.

One successful case is from one of the Europe’s leading manufacturers of premium travel and carry-on luggage. The German luggage brand adopted Advantech’s digital signage solution at its flagship store in Taipei 101 for interactive promotion broadcasting.

Advantech partners with local system integrators to bring its customers the most innovative retail and hospitality solutions, including POS, self-serving-kiosks, interactive digital signage, smart mirror, digital menu boards, indoor navigation, and cloud queue service.
