Get a Mobile Life at CTIA Wireless

We’re looking forward to next week’s International CTIA Wireless 2011 show in Orlando. It is the last of the ‘big 3’ shows that kick off each year and focus on mobile devices and networks. Starting with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that takes over Las Vegas in early January we all move our focus to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress (MWC) and then look forward to CTIA as the culmination of some hectic Q1 event activity. Given that it is last in the sequence, I don’t expect any riveting product announcements, but vendors and network operators typically do reserve a few North American-centric news items for CTIA so keep your eyes peeled. CTIA show managers are indicating that advance registrations are up from last year and that the exhibit and meeting room space is also increased from last year – a good sign! Having looked through the list of exhibitors we are excited to be attending and if you are still sitting on the fence at this stage I would suggest quickly booking a ticket for the Sunshine State.

The theme of this year’s show is Mobile Life and is focused on the next generation (or 4G) networks, that are in their initial deployment, the rapid proliferation of applications and the adoption of wireless in enterprise and verticals.  An interesting aspect of CTIA 2011 is that an entire day is being showcased as ‘Wireless Health Day.’ Other verticals such as Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and the mobile enterprise are also being featured in various sessions and keynotes.

Advantech is co-exhibiting this year with one of our partners, 6WIND.  In sync with the 4G theme of the show, we are showcasing platform solutions optimized for LTE networks, including elements such as eNodeB, secure access gateways and Mobility Management (MM), and Packet Data Network (PDN) gateways found in the Evolved Packet Core (EPC).  Advantech systems are available in multiple platform and processor architectures, and utilizing 6WINDGate packet processing software enables our OEM customers to develop performance-tuned solutions for each element of their LTE network offerings.

Advantech and 6WIND will be in booth 2159 – so please do stop by, say hello and see how we are leading the evolution to the next generation of network platform solutions. As always we will be reporting on any interesting developments at the show.
